David is a qualified marketeer who studied a BA(Hons) In Marketing at the University of Huddersfield, leaving with a first class degree.

david_wads• What aspect of your job do you like the most?

Getting to work with such a wide range of clients and helping them build a better marketing strategy that truly makes a difference to their business, helping them achieve their objectives and growth ambitions. I also love working with the team here at Cornerstone and building that team with more like-minded individuals who have a passion for what they do.

• Which projects have you been working on this month?

It’s been a busy old few months here at Cornerstone, but some of the most interesting have to be the launch of the two new leisure centres for Oldham Community Leisure, the re-brand of Alan Kirkham Estate Agents, re-brand of Linda Lewis Kitchens and the launch of the Parkers Garden Centre website. With probably well over 100 live projects at the moment, it’s difficult to choose!

• Why do you like being in this industry?

Every day is a challenge and the industry moves at such as pace that you can’t rest on your laurels. It’s fantastic coming up with new and innovative ways to develop our clients’ business and use our expertise within the industry to give them a true point of difference.

• Describe a typical day at Cornerstone.

My day usually starts pretty early with me arriving at the office anytime between 6-7am, which gives me plenty of quiet time to pull together staff briefings, project specs, and workflows and forecasts for the week ahead. As we also have a busy production schedule, I also get involved in that too. From there, most of my day tends to involve working on client strategy, campaign and project planning, client meetings & quotations, and supporting our team in delivering outstanding work, which they do extremely well.

• What makes Cornerstone different to places you’ve worked before?

I’m slightly biased as I started Cornerstone with a specific vision, but I’d say our highly ethical and honest approach to what we do helps us to stand out from the crowd, plus our ability to deliver outstanding value for money for medium to larger businesses wanting to drive their marketing communications forward. Plus our office environment is relaxed with everyone working together to achieve a common goal, whilst having fun at the same time – a critical part of any job.

 • Who makes the best brews in the office?

It has to be Nicola, cannot beat her coffees!

• What’s the best thing about working for a non-corporate company?

Our ability to adapt and change to client needs and market changes in an instant, it keeps us light, agile and very responsive, something that’s won us a lot of work in the past, and will continue to do so in the future. It’s also more enjoyable the way our business is setup to a more corporate hierarchy.

• What part of office life do you dislike the most?

It has to be IT issues, with our team growing so much recently there’s been plenty of new computer and software setups that come with their own issues. Thankfully we’re ironing them out now!

What goes around comes around, and treat people how you want to be treated. I know that’s two but they tend to go hand in hand!
