CORNERSTONE has widened its services to clients with the appointment of Videographer Kat Thomson.

Video is increasingly being used across digital marketing channels and Kat’s arrival represents an exciting new phase for Cornerstone.

Tell us a about some of the projects you’ve been involved with since arriving at Cornerstone?

I’ve been working on a range of videos including an annual report video for a health and leisure centre operator, Oldham Community Leisure, and a website video for fitness client Glo Gym.

My other work includes a website video for a kitchen and bedroom manufacturer, which involved me handling the whole process from scripting to filming, editing and sound.

In addition to video you also provide stills photography services too?

Yes. My stills photography work for Cornerstone has included a portfolio of images for a residential property developer, showcasing contemporary apartments and interior design; and photographs highlighting Cornerstone’s commercial office design and signage services.

As with video, I can offer the complete service from start to finish – from visiting clients’ locations to see how best we can use photography to show their products, services and facilities, to taking the photographs and editing them afterwards.

The new Cornerstone website will include a video of my work which gives viewers a glimpse of the agency’s range of work.

Can you tell us a bit about your background?

I grew up in Nottinghamshire and studied practical media at Nottingham Trent University. After university, I had experience of events and promotional roles for a local Record label and then in events and journalism for the Newark Advertiser Media Group.

I later spent two years with G2, a product development company, which designs products ranging from cycle lights to pharmaceuticals packaging, and then worked in London for a photographic agency.

Which film makers and photographers have inspired you?

My favourite photographer is Tim Walker, whose fantastical images have appeared in magazines including I-D and Dazed & Confused, featuring models such as Tilda Swinton.

My favourite film director must be Wes Anderson, known for his distinctive use of colour and quirky details. He also directed a Christmas TV advert for retailer H&M.

In you spare time, what do you enjoy?

Music is a big interest. I love a variety from Foo Fighters, Frank Ocean and Queens Of The Stone Age to Frightened Rabbit, Brand New and Kurt Vile. When I was younger I played the drums, violin and guitar!
